This summer the board of commissioners visited the new well, which has just gone online to provide water to the district. The well was ready to go in the summer, but the required tests for water safety took several months to process and come back. The completion of this new well brings us to three total, which will allow us to take one of the old wells offline next year for much needed service.
These are the kinds of projects your water rates pay for; maintenance and upgrades to our system that will keep us providing clean water for many years to come.
The board of commissioners has discussed ways to allow customers to pay their bill automatically and/or monthly. Unfortunately because we do not wish to be responsible for your credit card information and we do not have a large enough system to pull exact payments, customers will still need to keep track of the amount they owe each month.
Our online bill pay system does have an option where the customer can pre-set the amount they wish to pay each month and choose the date.
Customers may follow the link below and set up their own recurring payments. All payments by credit or debit card include a service fee that goes to the processor.
Please keep in mind that you will still be responsible to know how much you owe and make sure it is paid on time or you will be charged late fees.
We suggest that you choose your highest bill from a year and use that as the basis for your recurring payments. Then at the end of the year you can check your balance and decide if you have enough credit to skip a payment or adjust your payment amount.
The Malaga Water District has adopted an updated comprehensive plan, pending review by the Health District. The plan must be updated every six to ten years. This plan shows how we will use our resources to maintain the water system, update aging infrastructure, and plan for new growth. It also includes a water use efficiency plan. We need all customers to be using less than 240 gallons per day by 2020 and less than 230 gallons per day by 2029.
You can read the details of the presentation to the board in the PDF below. We encourage all customers to come to board meetings if they have questions.
